How to play Hotkeys
Hotkeys is a keyboard speed game: we name an action and you press the real keyboard shortcut (or tap one of four options) before the bar drains. It is free, runs in your browser, and needs no account or install.

- 1Read the action asked for (for example, Copy) in the top panel.
- 2Press the actual shortcut on your keyboard, or tap one of the four chords on screen, before time runs out.
- 3Answer fast: the more bar left, the bigger the speed bonus, and your combo multiplies it.
- 4Finish all 10 rounds; a wrong key or a timeout breaks your streak (though the first miss has a shield).
Tips to score higher
- Risking early both pays and punishes: a fast hit is worth more, but a wrong key costs more points the more time was still left.
- Turn on Blind mode once you know a shortcut: the four options are masked so only muscle memory scores, but it grants an extra bonus.
- Use the category filters (edit, file, browser...) to drill one group at a time, since the distractors all come from the same app.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I have to pay or make an account?
- No. Hotkeys is free, runs in your browser, and needs no sign-up; it works best on a computer with a physical keyboard, but you can also play by tapping.
- Do I really have to press the keys on my keyboard?
- It is the main way and the one that scores highest, but you can always tap one of the four on-screen options. In Blind mode, though, the options are hidden and only the chord you press counts.
