How to play Patch
Patch is a bug-triage arcade: bugs fall down the screen and you squash each one with the fix that matches its type, handling the criticals first. It is free, runs in your browser, and needs no account or install.

- 1Arm the right fix: every bug is one of three types (logic, security, performance). Pick the matching button or use keys 1, 2 and 3.
- 2Tap a bug as it falls. It only dies when the fix of its type is armed; the white halo shows which one is ready.
- 3Read severity by colour and ring: minor is harmless, major costs 1 shield if it escapes, and critical (red ring) costs 2. Clear criticals first.
- 4Chain hits to grow your combo and the value of each bug; you lose when your 5 shields are gone.
Tips to score higher
- Catch criticals while they are still in the top half: they are worth 4x and pay a 1.5x priority bonus.
- Never fire the wrong fix at a critical: misrouting one costs a shield and points on the spot, worse than letting it slip.
- Let minors fall when you are stretched: they escape with no life cost and do not break your clean streak.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I have to pay or make an account?
- No. Patch is free, runs in your browser, and asks for no sign-up or install; your best scores are kept on the device itself.
- What is the difference between the three bug types?
- Only the armed fix type matters for squashing: each type (logic, security, performance) needs its own fix. Colour and ring show severity, which is what sets priority and the cost in lives.
