How to play Skywatch
Skywatch is a game about identifying clouds and weather from a painted sky: you see the scene and name it from four options. It is free, runs in your browser and needs no login; it is a collectible album, not a strictly daily challenge.

- 1Look at the painted sky on the card: the height of the clouds, the shape and the colour tell you a lot.
- 2Pick the right name from the four options, telling cumulus from cirrus or rain from hail, for example.
- 3Get it right and the card reveals the real image plus a fact about the phenomenon, which joins your collection.
- 4Continue through the next cards and complete the album, filtering by Clouds, Weather or Sky.
Tips to score higher
- Play the Clouds category on its own to master the types that forecast weather, like the storm-bringing cumulonimbus; completing a family earns a badge.
- Hard mode gives five options and no hint, useful when the high clouds look alike, such as cirrus, cirrocumulus and cirrostratus.
- In Confidence mode you stake 1, 2 or 3 before answering: safe on easy clouds like cumulus, riskier on the look-alikes.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need to pay or sign up?
- No. It plays free in your browser with no account, and your collection is saved on your device.
- Are the sky images real?
- The challenge card is a painted sky, but when you answer correctly the real image of the phenomenon appears, linking the stylised version to nature.
